Project Introduction:
Inspired by the cultural and poetic heritage of tofu, Huai Shang Dou Fu embraces the artistry of traditional tofu-making while presenting it in a modern and innovative space. The project integrates contemporary design language with a deep exploration of tofu culture, redefining the visual and experiential identity of this new generation of restaurants.
Design Highlights:
Thematic Inspiration:
- Drawing from tofu’s translucence and purity, suspended installations resemble delicate tofu blocks, creating a unique visual focus.
- Patterns derived from tofu molds are reinterpreted into intricate spatial textures and partitions, adding depth and cultural resonance.
Material Innovation:
White Fabric & Metal Curtains:
Fabric is reimagined as semi-transparent metal drapes, subtly diffusing light and creating an interplay of opacity and clarity.
Grooved Stone Panels:
Large stone panels with grooves replicate the imprints left during tofu production, connecting the space to its thematic roots.
Contemporary Aesthetics:
The design employs cutting, restructuring, and block relationships, emphasizing spatial dynamics while maintaining a balance of functionality and artistic expression.
This minimalist yet culturally rich approach avoids over-layering, focusing on refined humanistic qualities rather than excessive decoration.
